PDPM Quick Fact:

HIPPS Codes

Just like RUG-IV, PDPM uses a five-character HIPPS (Health Insurance Prospective Payment System) code for billing purposes.

The PDPM HIPPS code reflects the resident's classification within each payment component and also indicates the AI or Assessment Indicator for the type of MDS used to generate the code.

The payment components of PT and OT will always have the same score or group code, allowing them to be reflected in the HIPPS code as a single character. But PT and OT will have different payment rates.
